Companies and colleges from the region Ost Westfalen Lippe (OWL) presented several hundred different apprenticeship opportunities, courses of study, and possibilities for further education at 110 exhibition stands.
At the IWN stand, Mr Timon Friesen and Mr Bastian Höhne introduced and presented career information and advice for cutting machine operators and for industrial clerks.
This Jobs Fair took place this year for the fifteenth time. It is the result of a cooperation between the two secondary schools in Rietberg; the Nepomuceum Grammar School, and the Richard-von-Weizsäcker Comprehensive School.
About 2,500 guests came to the event. Most were school children of the 8th Grade and older, often together with their parents, but a significant number of visitors were job-seekers.
“We had many girls at our stand, showing real interest in the apprenticeship of cutting machine operators. The girls clearly showed bigger curiosity than the boys did. Therefore, I am very curious whether we are going to receive more training applications from girls than boys in the coming months. Until now, this was certainly not the case” Mr Bastian Höhne summarised his impressions of the fair.
